I am new to carving. I want to learn how to carve vintage Santa Claus carvings. Will this book work for a beginner or is it too advanced?
Thank you,
Gene Connor
The books are more for those who are a bit novice (been carving for a little while – time depends on the carver). If you have, these books will work for you. If you’re an absolute beginning wood carver, check out my ‘Absolute Beginning Wood Carving’ video at: https://www.youtube.com/user/scottcarvings . Some have my Santas. Check them out. They are fast pace to fit a weekend into a 2 hour class. But you can stop and catch up when you can.

Not at the moment. I am in the process of putting my books in PDF. I will also be asking if they have a rough-out vendor near by that can distribute my rough-outs
Do you ship your books to the UK?
Sorry, no

Is your “Santa Claus caricature” book too advanced for a beginning carver? I am just starting to learn and want to do Santa Claus carvings.

Do your Vintage Santas books start from a roughout, a block, or a bandsaw cutout? I prefer the block and cutout technique.
My patters are placed on a block, then you cut out, aka you’ll start with a cut out.
